Oak Foundation & ImpactMapper announce innovative partnership to track social impact

October 20, 2018

ImpactMapper is thrilled to announce our deepened partnership with Oak Foundation! Oak Foundation has committed $624,000 over the next three years to support their grantees’ monitoring and evaluation (M&E) capacity and the increased adoption of ImpactMapper across the philanthropic and nonprofit communities.

Medina Haeri at Oak Foundation reflects on the partnership:

“We see the great potential for ImpactMapper to communicate across a broad set of diverse audiences in philanthropy and with our grantees. Internally, we are using the tool in the Issues Affecting Women Programme (IAWP) at Oak as our our own monitoring, evaluation, learning and communication tool (MELC). We have already uncovered trends and progress not previously seen. We also see ImpactMapper as a key tool to help our grantees deepen their learning, optimize M&E in their social change initiatives, and shape their communication strategy. Strengthening analysis and data internally also will have a positive effect on our grantees’ fundraising and financial sustainability over time. This is why we are partnering with ImpactMapper and granting our grantees IM licenses for the next 3 years and supporting development of new features that will benefit the philanthropic sector. We’ve seen the great need for a tool in the field like ImpactMapper, and we are very happy to support it.”

ImpactMapper emerged from the real needs shared from foundations, nonprofit organizations, evaluators, and social justice advocates. There was a sense that the voices and stories that form the heart of social justice, human rights and feminist movements and organizations were too often being left out of existing tools and methods for tracking social change and impact, which overly focus on easy to measure quantitative metrics. ImpactMapper helps organizations use both their qualitative and quantitative data, track data trends and share the stories that matter most. We believe in increasing the accessibility of beautiful and easy-to-use data analytics and visualizations to lift up, communicate and share the inspirational and powerful social changes being made around the world.

Alexandra Pittman, Founder and CEO of ImpactMapper reflects:

“The IAWP at Oak Foundation has been an amazing partner and early adopter of ImpactMapper, supporting our tool which seamlessly weaves storytelling, qualitative and quantitative data, and visualizations to benefit the philanthropic and nonprofit sector and diverse communities. This support and partnership serves as a critical catalyst and allows us to emerge gaining greater adoption across the philanthropic field. We are really excited for what these next three years will bring.”

Oak Foundation’s mission is to address issues of global, social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged. Oak supports civil society as a pillar of democracy and justice and nurtures innovation and visionary leadership within it. ImpactMapper is an online platform to track and visualize social change and impact data, using both qualitative and quantitative data. ImpactMapper’s mission is to help organizations use their data effectively for tracking progress, learning, decision-making and ultimately to simulate a catalyzing force for good in communities and fast-forward social change. ImpactMapper is emerging as the go-to product for tracking and communicating social impact in the philanthropic, nonprofit, and impact investing sector.
